All you need to know about electric underfloor heating

Electric underfloor heating

Electric underfloor heating
Electric underfloor heating is becoming increasing popular! There are many brands out there but few can offer the quality  and value for money that you get with Comfortzone. All of our electric underfloor heating systems come with a 10 Year Guarantee and are manufactured by our expert team to the highest safety standards giving you complete peace of mind.

Installation
Electric underfloor heating is usually installed on top of a concrete or timber substrate, underneath your desired floor finish. Comfortzone electric underfloor heating is just 3.5mm thick and you can tile directly over the top of the underfloor heating system for quick and easy installation! The cable is thin enough for use in refurbishment projects as there is only a very slight build-up in the floor.

The heating system can be concealed within the tile adhesive and is extremely popular in kitchens, bathrooms and wet rooms because it aids floor drying and helps to prevent mould and condensation. But remember a layer of insulation should always be included to maximise the efficiency of your electric underfloor heating system.

Costs
The cost of running an electric underfloor heating system varies in each installation, factors that influence the costs includes:

  • Insulation – The level of insulation can increase efficiency many times over
  • Room height – Electric UFH radiates heat from the floor upwards giving you a comfortable even heat signature. Heat loads associated with high ceilings do not have to be factored in.
  • Heat loss – Draughts, extractor fans and poor insulation cause heat loss which your electric underfloor heating system must somehow compensate for!
  • Heating programme – Use an intelligent and personalised heating program and you will saves ££’s!

Electric underfloor heating Vs radiators
With a traditional heating system the top of the room is usually over heated to allow the lower parts of the room to reach a comfortable temperature. Electric underfloor heating radiates heat evenly upwards from your floor. This creates the perfect spread of heat, or “heat signature”, throughout your room resulting in increased comfort and energy savings.
